While writing thread about scoring (http://www.knightsgame.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=61.msg176#new) I thought about idea of experience and experience level. I think that might be quite a good idea, making longer games interesting and more effort would be put in things that may seem not really necessary.
Possible sources of experience:
- as in scoring thread: setting traps, killing monsters
- drinking potions, reading scrolls (there could be also a special potion - "gain experience")
- killing other knights
- using different kinds of weapons
and so on.
Possible effects of higher experience levels:
- better endurance of hits
- more hitpoints
- more damage dealt
but, for the balanced gameplay, maybe some bad effects:
- poison and paralysis more likely to be found, but max paralysis time would be shorter
and so on.
There are more important questions to be answered - for example, should knights experience lower when he dies? I think that it should, so an overpowered knight could be brought down to base level.
I'm waiting for your ideas and opinions in that matter :)
It would even further penalize dying. Good idea for single player campaigns(could be just series of missions), but not for multi.
